Does jupyter work with
Swann cameras?
Yes. jupyter works with Swann cameras, including most NVR and IP models. The Hub connects over the camera's own video stream, so nothing is replaced and nothing is sent to a cloud.
Which models
Most NVR and IP models.
jupyter does not keep a list of approved models. If the camera gives out a standard RTSP stream, the Hub can almost always read it, whatever the model number says. That is why the range above is written as families rather than part numbers.
How it connects
Adding the camera.
These cameras provide an RTSP stream but do not advertise themselves over ONVIF, so the Hub will not discover them automatically. Add the camera by its stream address instead, which you will find in the camera or recorder's own settings. Once it is added it behaves exactly like a camera that was discovered.
What changes
Six senses, on the camera you already own.
The camera keeps doing what it does. The Hub adds the judgement: it tells your household from a stranger, watches a parcel on the step, reads vehicles and plates (limited beta), notices someone lingering, with the Indoor Halo hears glass break in a room with no camera, and can make an empty house sound lived in. All of it runs on the Hub inside your home, and none of it carries a monthly fee. VoiceAI is the one exception: it is in beta and may later become an optional paid feature.
Before you start
Finding the stream address.
You will find the stream address in the camera or recorder's own settings, usually under network or streaming. It starts with rtsp:// followed by the camera's address on your network. If the camera sits behind a recorder, the recorder often provides the stream instead, with a channel number for each camera.
Worth knowing
What the Hub needs.
One Hub takes up to eight cameras. The camera and the Hub need to be on the same home network, wired or wireless, and the camera needs a fixed address on that network so the Hub can find it again after a power cut. Most routers do this through a DHCP reservation, which takes a minute in the router's settings. Recording is kept on the Hub itself rather than in a data centre, so the footage stays in the house and there is nothing to pay for it.
If a camera will not connect, it is almost always one of three things: the stream is switched off in the camera's own settings, the camera account has a different password from the app login, or the camera is on a guest network the Hub cannot reach. The camera check on the home page will tell you whether the model is known to work before you buy.
