Does jupyter work with
Ring cameras?

Not currently. Ring cameras publish no local video stream for jupyter to read, so there is nothing for the Hub to connect to.

Why not

Built around their own cloud.

Ring cameras are built around the brand's own cloud service, where recording history and the smarter detection features are sold as a subscription. No local video stream is published for another system to read, so there is nothing for the Hub to connect to. That is a decision the brand has made, not a limit we can engineer around.

What you can do

We would rather you kept your cameras.

That is the whole point of jupyter, and it works with most brands. If you would consider replacing these ones, Outdoor Protection includes two jupyter Cameras and Orbital Protection includes four. The six senses then run on those cameras, on the Hub in your home, with no monthly fee.

Mixed homes

If you have other cameras too.

Plenty of homes have a Ring at the front door and something else around the back. jupyter does not need every camera to be the same brand, or even to be from a brand it has heard of. One Hub takes up to eight cameras, and any camera that provides an RTSP stream can join, whatever the badge on it says. So the Ring cameras stay where they are doing what they already do, and the rest of the house gets the six senses.

The camera check on the home page searches by brand and model, so you can see which of the cameras you own already qualify before you decide anything. Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Uniview, Amcrest, Axis, Swann, Lorex, Annke, TP-Link, Ubiquiti, Hanwha, Vivotek, Bosch, HiLook, Eufy, Wyze and Foscam are all supported.
